Analysis of music videos similar to my genre of music

Genre characteristics
This band is a punk rock/alternative rock and it has characteristics you see from other videos from this genre of music but unlike usual rock video it is more narrative than performance. Rock music video's are usually the band playing with few scenes of narrative, this one is the reverse. I think that i could use this idea in my music video making it mostly narrative with aspects of performance. The music video is about going away and the artist is lip syncing all the way through walking through a airport from his flight. The shots switch between 2 singers the male singer in the day at the airport and a woman at night at home. I think this is very effective. There are many close ups of the singer looking straght into the camera and loking away, when he looks at the camera, close up shot the music is slower and it creates a more enaging feel to the song. there are image motifs because of the idea that there is a link between the heart being jet lagged and planes, going away etc....

What is the relationship between the lyrics, music and visuals?
The song is called Jet Lag. The first line of the song is what time is it where you are, from the first 15 seconds we can see that one singer is in one timezone and the other is in another "the timezones are making me crazy". This is a very literal video and the lyrics link with the vsuals very well and it is effective. In the viodeo he is sending post cards which we see in the apartment of the woman so we can see they are talking about oneanother and are linked. I cannot see any intertexual references apart from the linking between heart being jet lagged and the airport and airoplanes.
The music is a sad rock song, but it is fast and upbeat, so i would expect the editting to be fast and there to be a depressing atmosphere. Does the music video have that? If you ask me, it does not. Even watching the myusic video it makes me want to get up and dance, that is the effect on me, i think the relationshiop between the music and the visuals are niot a strong as the vsuals between the lyrics and visuals.
